About us

A veteran-run rescue built on patience, compassion, and one good dog at a time.

The Tide and Heart Project rescues dogs, provides trauma-informed and force-free training, and places them as support animals with women veterans - at no cost.

Who we serve

Where resilient dogs meet resilient women — and new chapters begin.

We believe healing flourishes when people, animals, and communities are meaningfully connected. Our work creates stability for dogs and for the women veterans who benefit from companionship, emotional support, and a sense of safety.

What we do.

01

Rescue

We pull dogs from shelters, unsafe environments, and owner-surrender situations. Each one receives a behavioral evaluation, veterinary care, vaccinations, and spay/neuter.

02

Home-Based Rehabilitation

All dogs live with the founder throughout their training. This gives them the structure and emotional safety that kennels can't, and prepares them for real life with a veteran.

03

Structured Training

A full-time trainer reinforces individualized plans every day. Force-free, positive reinforcement, trauma-informed - always.

04

Veteran Matching

Women veterans apply and are matched based on temperament, lifestyle, and support needs. Placements are always free, with follow-ups at 30, 60, and 90 days.

05

Ongoing Support

Training refreshers, behavioral consultations, resource referrals, and peer community for as long as the partnership lasts.

06

Workforce Development

Meaningful, hands-on, animal-centered jobs for people facing employment barriers, including those with disabilities and trauma histories.

Our public benefit.

We exist to create stability, connection, and healing - for women veterans experiencing trauma, isolation, PTSD, anxiety, or major life transitions; for rescue dogs needing rehabilitation and a second chance; for marginalized community members seeking purpose-driven work; and for the broader community through education and outreach.
